For a student film exploring the theme of finding inspiration from the world and people around us, I upcycled a vintage wedding dress as part of the costume design concept. The goal was to reimagine something traditional into a bold, expressive piece that reflected the film’s creative spirit.
Using black spray paint and painter’s tape, I transformed the vintage dress into a striking striped design. I also costume designed and styled 30 cast members, ensuring visual cohesion across the ensemble. The striped motif was subtly incorporated into the main character’s looks to foreshadow key moments later in the film.
The final costumes helped visually tie the story’s themes together. Transformation, inspiration, and creativity. This project strengthened my skills in upcycling, large-scale styling coordination, and using costume design as a storytelling tool.
